A few years back, we saw the need for a better clutch release fork for the Neon SRT4s. The factory cast fork pads wear rather quickly in the area that contacts the throw out bearing. We've seen people weld them up, insert screws, and do some other crazy things to the factory fork to salvage it. The correct way is to replace it, and replace it with better material. We set off to solid model the fork, and machine them out of billet steel stock. We created a pre-production batch of billet forks in mid 2010. They were beautiful pieces, however they had one major flaw. We would need to sell these for $450+ ea. in order to make any money on them.
Enter project phase 2. How were we going to be able to create a part that was stronger than the cast piece, didn't wear like the cast piece, yet still be able to sell it for close to the same price as the cast piece? The only reasonable option we had was to create forging dies and use the process called Precision Forging. By forging the part, we get a piece that is stronger than cast, stronger than billet, and much less expensive to produce than billet, since we were able to get the rough shape of the part from the forging dies.
The AGP Clutch Fork is precision forged from carbon steel, final CNC machined in house, then surface hardened to an HRC number that will not wear like the factory piece.
Fork comes complete with a new bushing and ball retainer clip.
Note: You may want to replace the pivot ball as well when you replace your fork with our billet pivot ball.
